What is the most expensive piano?
Pianos, in general, can cost a lot of money.
The price varies from hundreds of dollars to couple of million. Yes, it may be hard to believe but the most expensive pianos cost more than a million dollars.
I will list the three most expensive ones that contain an antique piano, a new model of piano and a piano that once belonged to a very famous musician.
3. Alma-Tadema Steinway
This beautiful piano costs 1.2 million dollars. Believe it or not, this piano was once worth only $1200, and by once I mean the 19th century. This piano is amazing not only because it is an antique, but also because of how it looks – on this piano is painted the recreation of Poynter’s painting “The Wandering Minstrels”. The beautiful art was designed by the artist Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema. I love how this piano looks and if I had few millions I would spend them on this marvelous piece of art without doubt. It was sold at the Christie’s auction in London to the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, Massachusetts.
2. The Kuhn Bosendorfer Piano
This piano is more modern piece of art that also costs 1.2 million dollars. Instead of a recreation of painting it is designed with diamonds, real hand-cut pieces of diamonds by the artist Jon Kuhn. It looks beautiful and sophisticated, it is a real gem.
1. John Lennon’s Steinway Model Z
The most expensive piano is John Lennon’s Steinway Model Z. What makes it more special is that he composed and recorded the amazing song “Imagine” on this piano. It may not look like it’s worth 2.1 million dollars, but hey, it belonged to John Lennon. It was sold to George Michael at auction at 2009.
